Where are your products made?
All of our linen napkins and table runners are made in a small, family run workshop in a village outside of Hanoi, Vietnam. The village has a rich history in traditional embroidery techniques.
Will the colors of my linens match?
The color of natural linen is dependent on its growing conditions, meaning that fabrics made from one crop might be slightly different in color, even after dyeing. If you need a matching set, we recommend ordering everything in one purchase.
Is linen eco-friendly?
Yes, linen is eco-friendly! Linen is made from natural fibers that are derived from the flax plant, which doesn't need pesticides to grow and requires 60% less water than cotton. Parts of the flax plant that are not used in the production of Linen fabrics are used to make items like linseed oil so nothing go’s to waste. Linen is naturally biodegradable, it can be recycled and is one of the most eco-friendly fabrics available.
How should I wash my linens?
Caring for linen is simple: you can both hand wash and machine wash linen items at low temperatures. Linen can be tumble dried on low heat. We don’t recommend using bleach or detergent with optical brighteners as they tend to weaken the fibers but if needed you can use a natural bleach alternative such as vinegar, baking soda or hydrogen peroxide.
Do you collaborate with bloggers, photographers, stylists, and magazines?
We are very happy to collaborate with bloggers, stylists, photographers and other creatives who share our love for high-quality linen items. Please send us your ideas to support@oluico.com and we will get in touch with you.
Do you offer gift wrapping?
Each of our orders is packaged with love, however, we do not offer any special gift wrapping.
Is linen more durable than cotton?
Yes, linen is thicker and about 30% stronger than cotton. The reason is because the flax plant, from linen is derived, produces much longer fibers than the cotton plant. Fiber length contributes directly to yarn strength, which influences the strength and durability of the fabric.
Does linen wrinkle easily?
Wrinkles are a natural part of linen fabric and more wrinkles is a sign of high quality as this means that the linen is pure. Less wrinkles is a sign that the fibers might've been mixed with cotton. The flax fibers that linen is derived from are low in elasticity preventing linen from stretching, but also giving it a crumpled, lived-in texture.
Do I need to iron my linens?
Some people prefer a crisp look, others prefer a more relaxed, rumpled linen. If you decide to iron your linens, do it while they are a little damp and iron using the medium setting on the steam setting.
